The agricultural landscape of Southwestern Uganda is undergoing a silent but powerful transformation. At the heart of this change lies the humble rabbit—an animal often overlooked but now becoming a cornerstone of rural prosperity for over 2,000 smallholder farmers.
The Outgrower Model: Power in Numbers
Our flagship outgrower model isn't just about breeding; it's about building a sustainable ecosystem. By organizing farmers into village-based groups, Namangu Investments has created a network of mini-breeding centers. This decentralized approach ensures that even the most remote farmers have access to high-quality genetics and technical support.
"Rabbit farming is no longer a hobby; it is a scientific enterprise that converts weeds and hay into high-value meat, skins, and organic fertilizers."
The 60/40 Formula
Sustainability is driven by cost-effectiveness. We've introduced a scientific feeding regime consisting of 60% hay and 40% weeds. This formula reduces reliance on expensive processed feeds, ensuring that farmers retain the maximum possible profit from every rabbit sold.
As we look to the future, Namangu is expanding its footprint to districts like Ntungamo and further into the Kigezi region, bringing this blueprint of success to thousands more households.
